IQF Frozen Fruit (Individually Quick Frozen)
The IQF Process: Individually Quick Frozen slows decomposition by turning residual moisture into ice, inhibiting the growth of most bacterial species.
In 2017, Milne will process IQF frozen fruit in two delicious varieties: organic aronia and blueberry, for the growing industrial organic market. The farming and processing operations are both certified by the Washington State Department of Agriculture’s (WSDA) Organic Program. The processing operations are certified by BRC (British Retail Consortium) and AIB International. The farming operation is Global GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) Certified under a voluntary audit that verifies that fruits and vegetables are produced, packed, handled and stored as safely as possible to minimize risks of microbial food safety hazards.
Both blueberries and aronia berries are picked fresh and immediately delivered to one of our two local IQF facilities for processing. All Milne frozen berries are:
- 100% vertically integrated
- Processed from freshly harvested berries
- No fruit is processed from outside growers
Finished IQF products are packed in a 30 lb. poly liner corrugated case. Frozen products require shipping at less than 0 degrees F and have a two-year shelf life from date of manufacture.
